Echoes from Space – Book Cover Series Design

Software Used: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
Project Type: Fictional Book Series Design (Concept + Layout)

This project features two original book covers created for a fictional sci-fi series: Echoes from Space: Making Contact and Echoes from Space: The Rift Below. These designs began as a class assignment and were later expanded into a full series for my portfolio. The goal was to create a set of covers that feel like they belong on real books, while also showing my skills in layout, typography, and consistent design across a series.

Both covers were designed using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, with some vector edits done in Illustrator. I used AI-generated images from Adobe Stock as a base, then blended and adjusted them in Photoshop to fit the story and mood. The front, spine, back, and flap layouts were built in InDesign to match standard 6×9 print specs.

I kept the same overall style across both covers by using a consistent color palette, clear text hierarchy, and repeating layout elements. The title uses Orbitron, a clean futuristic typeface. Subtitles are set in Poppins, and the author name is in Lato to keep it simple and professional. I used layering and transparency effects to add depth and improve readability over the complex backgrounds.

This series highlights my ability to:

  • Create consistent branding across multiple designs
  • Work with layered images and type to support both theme and function
  • Balance visuals and text for clarity and impact
  • Apply thoughtful layout and spacing choices based on peer and instructor feedback

While the books are fictional, the designs are polished and realistic. This project demonstrates my ability to take a concept from idea to final layout, and to design at a professional level using industry-standard tools.
