A print ad and web banner for a fictional resort, emphasizing a calm, relaxing atmosphere. This project demonstrates my skills in advertising design for both print and digital formats.

Amethyst Bay Resort & Spa – Print and Web Advertising

Software Used: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
Project Type: Print Ad and Web Banner Design

This project features a print ad and a web banner for a fictional resort called Amethyst Bay Resort & Spa. The goal was to create calming, beachside visuals that reflect the relaxing feel of the brand. I used a minimal layout, clean typography, and a soft color palette to match the peaceful tone of a high-end resort.

In Photoshop, I used layer masks to blend stock images into one smooth background and removed unwanted sections to clean up the scene. Drop shadows and other effects were added to the text to improve contrast and readability. Some text elements were created in Illustrator to keep them sharp and clear. The print ad was saved in CMYK at 300 DPI for high-quality printing, while the web banner was saved in RGB format and exported as a GIF for digital use.

The color scheme included violet tones from the brand logo along with cool blues to support a calm and inviting mood. I used bold, sans-serif fonts and avoided images of people so viewers could picture themselves in the scene. This helped the ad feel more personal and open. Both the print and digital designs shared a consistent visual style, which helped create a strong and professional brand look.

After receiving feedback and reviewing the designs with fresh eyes, I made several improvements. For the print ad, I replaced a boxy text area with a smooth, wave-shaped section in the brand colors to hold the logo and business info. I added another wave at the top for extra text, which helped soften the layout and improve balance. For the web banner, I added a curved shape at the bottom for the website and logo, made the call-to-action larger, and fixed image stretching by using a properly sized photo. I also added a light box behind the text to help it stand out.

Both designs were carefully checked for alignment, readability, and correct formatting. I made sure the resolution and color settings were right for each platform and kept the layouts clean and easy to follow.

This project shows my ability to:

  • Design for both print and digital formats using brand guidelines
  • Use Photoshop and Illustrator to build smooth, layered designs
  • Create layouts that feel clean, calm, and professional
  • Improve my work based on feedback and updated skills
  • Maintain consistency across multiple ad formats

The final designs reflect a soft, inviting style that matches the feel of a resort brand, while also showing strong attention to detail and layout.
